About Us

Women for Peace and Participation (WPP)

    Women for Peace and Participation (WPP) is to promote the involvement of women and youth in peace-building processes at the grassroots, provincial and national levels. WPP, in Afghanistan operates in various regions, with particular focus on the Southern, Western and Central regions (Kandahar, Helmand, Kabul and Mazar). We work with women and youth on;

  • Empower women and youth by building their capacities and skill-sets to engage in peacebuilding and Peacebuilding and conflict resolution.
  •  Develop the leadership skills of the next generation of women and youth.
  •  Facilitate Peace Mediation at the community level.
  •  To enhance opportunities for the inclusion of women and youth in decision-making processes.
  •  Informal education and livelihoods;
  •  Strengthening networking and solidarity
  •  Advocacy, at local, national, regional and international levels.
  •  To develop partnerships with individuals, communities and organizations working in development, peace-building and state-building – all aimed at creating a shared consensus on the policies needed to bring effective political, economic and social change in war torn societies.

WPP substantial component of this work focuses on hard-to-reach and remote populations, building their capacity and enabling them to participate in policy-formulation and implementation at community, provincial and national levels. In addition to programs in Afghanistan, WPP conducts research, builds networks of female and youth activists, and is called upon to advise on challenges to inclusive peacebuilding.
